Canning the Vapor Can

I'm in the process of cleaning up emissions/computer leftovers from an L-81. I was about to drop the Vapor Can out when I realized there was still one hose hooked up. It appears to be connected to a fuel line.

I traced it back along the frame and up toward the fuel tank. Now assuming that is where it goes, since it is a "vapor" line, I'm not running any risk of having fuel come from that line if I yank the hose off am I? I would think it would be plumbed to the top of the fuel tank if it is a "vapor" line.

Can I just yank the hose and cap the line from the tank... or do I even need to worry about the line from the tank?

Thanks for any help,

The vapor system does not cost any power, just helps keep the gas fumes down in your garage, so why get rid of it?

The vapor can is not currently connected to anything with the exception of the line going to the fuel tank. All the other hoses are dangling in the air about a foot from the can.

The previous owner repowered the car and basically left all the emissions plugs, harnesses and vapor hoses unconnected, chopped and hanging.

I am trying to neaten up things as it currently looks like hell under the hood.

Re-connect the lines. The vapor cannister is a good thing.

Well, that will be a difficult thing to do since the new motor is a 4 bolt 350 with edelbrock aluminum heads, edelbrock manifold, carb., headers, etc. I have none of the fittings, hoses or idea where the hoses would go. And of course that would assume that the edelbrock gear had the same fittings as OEM. The computer is gone and so is the emissions (air) pump.

The hoses attached to the can vary in range from 4 inches to 12 inches in length and were hacked off with what I'd guess was a hack saw. My guess is that they would run to a manifold fitting, maybe a carb fitting, perhaps even an exhaust manifold fitting. I believ I counted 6 fittings in all.) I suspect the hose to the tank (I assume that's where it finishes) was left intact because it wasn't attached to anything in the engine area.

This Vette is no NCRS machine. It's been hacked up, taken apart and somewhat put back together. I'm attempting to make it a somewhat clean daily driver. For the miles I expect to put on the vehicle I doubt it will be any real threat to the environment.

Thanks for the input.

Runs to the front bottom of your carb drivers side, sothing with direct vacum the fuel/emmision line is much bigger than a normal vacum line there for if you have a larger plug on the front of your carb thats it .
This will not rob you of any power only limit the smell of gas.

I'm sure someone here can tell you where the various hoses go.
