Car cover ?

Hello, I am in the process of purchasing a 2004 convert. and will transporting from Minn. across country to Kelowna BC.
I have a 1 ton truck and a flatdeck trailer.
The question is, do I cover the car and face the flapping of the cover for 2400 miles or leave it uncovered and face the possibility of stone chips?
Also are there any does and don'ts when it comes to tie downs of the car to the trailer.
Thanks Jim

First of all a cover is great when the car is stored indoors. But never put a cover on a car while it is being towed or trailered. Even covered in your driveway can create problems for the paint if it is real windy outside.. The constant moving of the cover will wear down the paint especially long distance diriving. No matter how much wax you apply before you cover it it won't help. Even Tied down nice and snug you will still have some rub spots.. It would be best to tow the car on a flatbed that has a deflector in front and apply a few coats of good wax. Better to fix a few stone chips than repainting the car.. Good luck !! Have a safe drive..

Hi

If you don't have a deflector then protect your windshield. The cab will protect the front of your vette.

Also a better idea go to your dealership and ask them if you can buy the transport wrap used when a new vette is transported from the factory.
It is a lightly padded, adhesive back paper.

Or look up national car transporters and ask them if they would sell you something.

Good Luck

Alan

Well, my 2004 C5 is on it's way to Kent Washington in the eye of the storms along the coast. Should be interesting driving it back up to Canada. Anyone in Washington know just how bad the rain is?

I just bought a 98 Indy Pace Car and the owner threw in a car cover. I have used one for years but this one has pockets for the mirrors and that makes it much easier to tell which is front and it also makes it much easier to put it on.
If you streetch it out on top of the car and then put the pockets over the mirrors then it isn't always trying to slide off one side or the other.
