Just for future knowledge in case we have children. Is there some way to disable the airbag in my 95 so I could put a car seat there.

By the time you have kids, you already have a minivan! Seriously, I don't think there is any way to disable the airbag. Maybe pull the fuse?

yes you can pull the fuse.
i pull it every time my seven year old daughter rides in mine

in my state you can file for a air bag on/off switch.

you get some paper work to fill out ie: you sit to close to the airbag or any other reason. I have filled out the work for my mothers car and i got the switch for her drivers air bag, she sits to close. the switch is very nice, it came from ford, you can switch to have them both on or off or just the drivers on. so i would guess gm would also make one
