Hi,

A car show was held in Old Orchard Beach, Maine over the weekend.

I went to it without my car (at painter). At least 60+ cars .

Sadly, only one 67, one 61 and one 62 at the show.

Most of the car were late models. They looked great but......
as stated by others, less and less midyears and older at regular corvette club shows.

Maybe it is the weather, uncomfortable ride or value of our older cars and old owners that keep them away..

I guess what I am saying , if you own a older vette and you can still drive it, and it is not a show car, drive it as much as you can.

People flock around our old vettes and love to see them on the highways.

Ps, I was looking into the window of the 61 and what did I see?

Two baby mice crawl out and sat on the console. I called over to the owner to tell him about it. Before long there was 100 looking at the mice. He had the car in a nice garage all winter and I guess the parents of the babies thought it would be a nice place to raise their young.

Hit of the show. I didn't have my camera.

What were you thinking?

Do you have your trip route set yet? Would love to say Hi on your way by or would even put you up for a night.

Jack, looks like you'll be going thru Yellowstone and Montana. In june of last year, my wife and I left Salt Lake City and went north thru Yellowstone into Montana and then headed west eventually ending up in Seattle. If you've never been thru Yellowstone and Montana, I'm just gonna tell you that you'll love it. We were gone a week for the driving part, and a week on a cruise ship to Alaska, and I took over 1300 pictures. That part of the country is AWESOME, and any of the CAC'ers that live in that area................I'm jealous! I haven't, however, had the "pleasure" of seeing it in the winter. THAT might make me change my mind about the place, but I doubt it. Enjoy your trip!

Jack, please let us know when you plan on being in Raleigh NC. :w It would be great to see and talk to you. I'm sure we could get several
Corvettes together from the Carolinas Chapter of the Solid Axle Corvette Club to meet you and have lunch or dinner.
We try to promote driving the C1 as much as possible and our membership is growing all the time.

I should be heading through NC in Oct. If you look at map, I start in ME and head south to NY LI and then to CT and upstate NY and across Midwest.

Aug 2 start date. I figure about 90 days to cover about 12,000 miles.

I will post my Blog address later and will update all forums as I travel.

Sent you an email

Alternative resting stops are always good in case someones plans or schedule changes.

I am trying to meet people mid-day after morning drive. Rest lunch talk pictures and project matters. Drive again and park and camp or enjoy a soft bed at the next stop (owner (s) meeting.

Start again the next day and do that for 90 days. It will be busy in the Midwest and quiet in the high plains country (looking forward to Yellowstone etc ), then Northwest , CA , Southwest , South, Southeast , Mid Atlantic, Northeast.

My wife thinks I am crazy, but then again she married me , so who's crazy.

Have a good summer , hope it is not too hot, flooding , tornadoes , hail and other things you have out there.

You stay drier that way. I bought my car from a Navy pilot shipping out (flying out) for Nam in 1970 . He flew F4 Phantoms. I still have his wings on the glove box . My car also had a decal on vent window. It wore off after 10 years , but this year I found a retired worker from the MacDonald Douglas factory where the Phantoms were made. He had the same decal and sent it to me. It is now on my vent window , so the car looks just like it did when I bought it. I don't know what happen to him. The car had 46,000 miles on it and he broke the speedometer. I am the second owner. Unfortunately , I lost the protecto plate and all the other documentation. Who knew then. I was just a 23 year old with a fast car. Can't remember his name.
