Can someone please advise me as to why gasoline would flow out the top of the carburetor? Could the bowl float be sticking the would allow the flow of the gasoline? I have a 1968 427/390 and the carburetor keeps choking itself out because of to much fuel. It ran fine for about two weeks and now it's choking itself out. Thank you.

Or the old brass float is broken full of fuel so it's not capable of closing the inlet. Or there is dirt between the inlet and plunger.

Did you ever before open up the carb? If not maybe this is a good moment for a rebuild or at least get a new upper gasket because it will break when opening the carb.

Greetings Peter

As Peer 81 suggests, there may be a problem with float level.

Rebuild the carburetor, if that's the case.

Also, you may have a problem with fuel pressure. If you installed an aftermarket fuel pump, it might be the wrong type.

Whatever you do, stop driving the car with the carb in that condition. You risk fire, engine damage and, at the least, poor fuel economy.

Thank you to both of you and I will not drive it before attempting your suggestions. They are greatly appreciated.

Gentlemen I pulled the carburetor and found that the float does stick when in it's full up position....New float and a 3/16th of an inch top end float and it is good to go. Thanks for your help.
