I am so embarrased to even ask this but I have too...

I bought my vette used, so it did not have the cargo net thingy. I picked one up from the dealer, but now I don't know how, what, or where it's supposed to be attached. Please advise...

there are supposed to be 4 hooks that come with the net
there are 4 places where the screw in the 4 corners in the rear about 8-10 inches from the rear bulkhead......need a pic......grrrrrrrrr...I know I butchered the info....but .........I tried...............:)

I also have a 98 and installed a net. Go to sunsetvette.com and click on Mods.
You will be very happy with the info and pics. Dave

Thanks SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!
I'll be referring to you page often. It is such a big help and great job with the web page itself.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was glad to help you. Why not bookmark it as they other easy mods there that I look at from time to time. That is the nice thing about a forum; everyone knows where some, but not all, information is located on the internet
Dave

I bookmarked your page for sure!
Questions:

1. Two of the hooks were already mounted as you described on your page, but I did not have any mounting hooks in my bag purchased from the parts dept at my local dealer. Do you have any idea where I can get them?
2. I also do not have any "bare" screws under the lip of the cargo area. What should I do now?

The Dealer should have provided the hooks. Leave me your email and I can help
you
Dave

Dave:
I went back to the dealer today and got the hooks. Also, my carpeted & plastic moldings did not have holes in them so that the "bare" screws could poke through. After a closer inspection, the molded pieces that make up the rear and the side of the cargo area were not secured to the car. Basically they were hanging on by the wire that was attached to the interior lamp. Man...I know I bought the car used but good gracious!

Now I am wondering if the cargo net is too short. It's so tight, I can barely get it across. I can't believe I'm struggling with this...

Keep after it !

If you live near the dealer, why not ask them to hook it up for you.
I am sure they will if you ask nice
Dave

Miss Moneypenny -- I have my net installed and it IS a PITA to get stretched all the way across. Just keep after it and cuss a few times and you should get it.

I took it to the dealer and guess what? They gave me the wrong net!
I have a new one now and it was put on in a jiffy!
Thanks guys!

Missmoneypenny... how did the repairs on your vette turn out, I believe you mentioned a while back that the vette had been damaged? Did you use Criswell for the repairs? Are you happy with the results?

Criswell had my baby for 45 days!

Hell no I wasn't satisfied, but I was thinking under warranty = dealer. Well, I found out that Tony's does warranty work too and I will take it to him from now on.

It took Criswell all that time to match the paint, but not after they tried to pass off the first attempt as final. I made them drive my car into the sunlight and the bumper was not Sebring Silver like the rest of the car, it was closer to pewter. Man, I was so mad...just boiling.

I may go to Criswell for little things if Tony is too busy, but any major work will be done by Tony and his buddy directly across the street - Kurz autobody. I think the guy who runs Kurz is a vette owner several times over...They also recommended Auto Effects down in College Park for vette wheels. I got mine from them based on their recommendations. Very good guys, the two of them...

I understand... that is why I was asking. Can't go wrong with Tony's. I had a friend who worked at Criswell's body shop and he left because he said it was pretty bad. Sorry to hear about your experiance, but I am glad you stuck to your guns and got it worked out.

It sound like you are ready to haul cargo now !

Wow I just brought home my first Vette and you guys answered my questions about the cargo net and security shade before I could even ask them! Thanks!

btw The car is a 2001 coupe Navy over oak 6 speed with Borlas!

Hopefully a helpful hint: Cut about 1/3 off one arm on each of the four hooks. The net will pop on and off much easier, but still be totally secure.
