Hey Gang-

I haven't had time to post this yet, but I wanted to share it with you guys first:

<beware - it's a LARGE file!>

Chris, thanks for taking the video - I'll let Chris give you guys the full story of what went down.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all at Carlisle at the end of August!

Sincerely,

Lance

Pushing the Envelope...

Last week, while doing some follow-ups on the Carlisle Callaway C6, I witnessed something so awesome; I wanted to capture it and share –

A field of about two dozen Corvettes of all different years were playing at Beech Bend Raceway Park during an invitational autocross. While the Carlisle Callaway Corvette wasn’t initially scheduled to run, the cars owner casually said, “why not”, and out on the track she went – strictly for exhibition purposes.

While three “runs” around this predetermined course were allowed, it was the final lap that was captured on the windy day.

With everything from a Zr1 to a Z06 (C5) out on the track, to the new C6 in all forms, including a nearly identical (to this cars starting point) Z51 suspended C6 were running the course.

Making fast times was easy for some cars it seemed, as many were prepped for the autocross series – The challenger, the Carlisle Callaway C6 was wearing the Callaway suspension and wheel/tire combo. Featured in the last C.O.T.M. installment article and seemed ready for the challenge.

Once all the cars scheduled to run had their turn, the FTD, or fastest time of the day was posted…with a 2004 Z06 holding top honors, this would be no easy feat. With the Callaway fired up, it ran the course at a blistering pace – New FTD reported! :eek

2.66 seconds FASTER than ANY car on the course that day, the Carlisle Callaway C6 amazed onlookers and impressed challengers!

Check out the video – It is amazing in both sight & sounds!

Enjoy!

What an amazing sound... If it was yellow (instead of black) I'd be in love!! :L

You're killing me... That is a beautiful Vette and a ZR1 to boot. Wow!! :cool

Does the 4.56 make it unpleasant on the highway? I know the LT5 doesn't mind the high revs but I think my ear and my wallet would object after a while.

Mac-

The 456 gears are a bit much, if I were to do it over again I'd go with the 409's - but I'm willing to live with it (I don't use the car often). However it does go through the 1/4 mile at around 7k RPM in 4th gear - it runs 12.4 @ 119mph all day long. I've never put sticky tires on the car - I'm certain that would cause for some breakage...

Life is good...

Mike Zoner from Callaway Cars was running the Carlisle Callaway Corvette that day at the auto cross - I wasn't able to be there that day :-(
