I got my carpet today and was wonder how is the best method of gluing it to the speaker, kick panels and seat backs? Can I apply glue to the back of the carpet then apply it the carpet to the "frame"? Do I have to apply adhesive to both?

Celery,

In my 81, the speaker grills carpet pieces in the back were stapled to the grill edges at the factory. The kick panels were the same way.

They used a specially thin head staple that was quite strong. I ended glueing them, for I could not find the right type of staple that could punch though the plastic pieces. The seat backs were mostly glued, but I found traces of staples near the corners.

The 3M Professional Glue No. 93 worked well. Clean the areas to be bonded with isopropyl alcohol to lift oils or dirt that can prevent the glue to adhere, and Spray each surface to be bonded, wait untill each surface is tacky to the touch, and bring them together. The tackyness will make them bond quickly, so be carefull to place the carpet correctly aligned on seat back. :eek

Good luck!
