Carpet Goo

I have a new carper kit for my '86 and today I started pulling out the old carpet. On the side of the console there is some type of goo. It is in beads and it is still sticky today. It was used to stick the carpet to the plastic side panels of the console. Any idea where I can get some of the goo or the name of something I can use in place of it?

Any upholstery shop. I've also found it at automotive paint stores.

Man, I had to do a double-take when I saw your avatar! I thought I had a picture of mine from the same angle, but I don't (or at least, I can't find it now :L). This was mine when I first got it in '94:
