Has anyone ever tried to dye the carpet in their corvette? I want to try this and am wondering what product to use and where to get it. Im going from a stained blue to black in colour, so I think it will cover up well....

What are your thoughts??

Some of the spray-on vinyl dyes you see in the catalogs are supposed to work on carpet. By going darker (blue to black) you may have to do a couple of coats to get good coverage. Is your carpet in good overall condition? Lots of wear spots or even some small tears will still be there after a dye job.

I would get the dye in a pint or quart can instead of the aerosol. A small touch-up spray gun will work well to do the dye job. I would also remove as much of the carpet as I could to spray it otherwise you will have to mask off most of the interior!

For later touch-up, use one of those glass bottle pressure sprayers with the replacable air cartridge.

Thanks for tips... The carpet is in good shape, some bad marks in the rear deck but i bout a black piece of ebay for 20 bucks.. the seats have new leather that dont quite match as well as I want with the carpet so i think the easiest way is to do the carpet black... i also think this will make the interior stand out and give it a "different look"
