I'm collecting parts for an engine rebuild this winter and have a chance to purchase new LT1 iron heads. Any potential problems I should be aware of? Thanks

I'd run as fast I could in the other direction - LT1 heads were aluminum. Last year for cast iron Vette heads was 1986.

Most likely those heads are off a Caprice, Firebird, or Camaro. Im pretty sure the Vette LT1 heads are aluminium.

yes the cast iron is for passenger cars, if you need heads and a rebuild why not go LT4 GM performance parts has a kit to do just that a lt1 to lt4 conversion kit you can get it most anywhere speed parts are sold.

If you're looking for heads anyways ... why not go with the LT4's?

All of the literature I've read about the iron heads says that they actually flow 20% better than the aluminum and I can buy them new for less than $200 each.

You'll be adding a substantial amount of weight to the front with the iron heads. I would also carefully check the port dimensions too.
