In August I bought a 2005 Daytona Sunset Orange with 33, 200 miles. Last week the check engine light came on and the diagnosis was the passenger Catalytic Converter was bad. The car only has 34,000 miles. Is this normal? Is there an underlying issue I should be concerned about?

Thanks.

Head gaskets are the number one reason I have seen for premature catalytic converter failures, but they can just go bad also. Check with GM, some converters have a 8-10 year 150K warranty on them but it can be VIN and year specific. Call your local dealer and ask for service, give them your VIN number to check and see if it could be warranty. Good luck with it. :)
