Hi Folks,
I have searched and read all the wheel/tire threads on here. Seen some great pics too ! I am ready to purchase some wheels/tires for my 99 white C5 roadster.
I just can't get excited about the stock grey wagon wheels that are on it.

By all the pics I have seen, I like the CCW 505 wheels the best. Anyone that has these, what do you think about them, IE; Finish, quality, etc. I am thinking about going with the Z06 sizes unless I hear some good reasons not to, or opinions whether to stay with the stock sizes. Also, I am struggling with what tires to order with them. I would like to get something that is quieter than the GY run flats that are on it. I don't need all season tires because I only drive the car in the good weather months and I am not hung up on needing run flats either, I have put lots of miles on motorcycles without a spare.

So, I would like to hear your input about these wheels, sizes and what tires to target. A good balance between handling and wear is what I am after. Oh, and if you can suggest a great place to get them that is appreciated as well.

Cheers, Garry:beer

Call CCW and talk to them. You will get the best info hands down from them. They will also sell you rubber to go on them. They dont over charge for the tires either you pay what they payed for the tires. They also offer the air pressure sensors if you want them.

On top of that if you get the tires through them they will mount and road force balance them for free. So when the show up on your door step they are ready to mount up and go.

As far as sizes go I like the look of the stagger so 18x10 up front and 19x11.5 in the back.

Here is a shot of my Dad's car with the SP16As 18x10 19x11.5 with Nitto INVO's

I have CCW 505a's on my Z06 and quite pleased with the fit and finish. The people at CCW were easy to talk to and know there product. As c5y2k says, they also sell complete aftermarket wheel/tire combos. Ask them what would fit your car. I stayed with the staggered sizing: 18x10 and 19x11.5 I have Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's mounted on them: 275/35x18 front and 305/30x19 rear.

Also, I don't think the CCW 505a's come in a stock C5 Z06 size. Smallest wheel size, per their chart, is 18x8.5 If you were thinking of C6 Z06 sizes you're going to have to mini-tub the rear wheelwells because the 19x12 will be too wide. I barely clear with the 19x11.5's

wider rubber is a great upgrade. improves handling quite a bit, especially coupled with losing the rock hard run flats.

Thanks guys for the input. I will give CCW a ring. Anyone else have any input ?
Looking at CCW's web site they offer several different tires. Any more thoughts on tires ?

Cheers,

-Garry

Wow, looking closely at those SP16's on the yello roadster and the 505's on the silver coupe, I like them both. Decisions, Decisions !!!

There are a lot of different brand tires out there. Depending on what kind of driving you're going to be doing to how much do you have to spend. ;LOL Hopefully you'll get more replies to your question. I went with Michelin PS2's. To me, they're a lot quieter and smoother riding than the GY Supercar's that came on my car.

Since CCW makes the 505a's in 18, 19 and 20 inch you're going to have to have pressure sensors installed or go without them.

Good luck.
