I installed a CD changer in the glove box of my 77. That is in the rear deck on the passengers side. Now unless I am on a smooth road, (never) the cd playing skips. I was thinking of putting shock rubber mounts on the deck mounting bolts. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

my cd player skips like a kid jumping rope. not sure there is an end all fix as the vette is just rought riding vehicle. I would just experiment until you can make it better.

If nothing else, that is like the worst place for a cd changer. Let alone the worst place in a stiff riding car. Of course we don't have many options do we.

I know, but were else is there?:confused

Possibly an in-dash cd changer? But then you lose that original look, if that is what your going for.

I have seen one mounted, in the rear, by means of suspending from the rear deck, below the astro vents. Kind of hard to do that in yours though.;shrug

I had one in the well behind the seats in my 87 . I didn't mount it at all . I just put it in on top of a bunch of towels and put towels over it . I don't know if that helped , but it never skipped . Cliff

You might also consider a different ( read $$$) CD changer-- the more advanced units buffer the sound so that any skips are re-read by the laser to fill in the gaps... it's about the only option I know for a rough riding vehicle.

That really is the only true solution. You just have to find one that has a deep enough memory buffer. A CD player in a car will ALWAYS skip, its just a matter of design whether you will hear it or not.

I think I will try the towel mounting idea. No holes to drill.:D

Thanks guys.

I used a foam rubber matt and it works great!
