CEL comes on w/code 43 when engine warms up and reaches closed loop. The CEL turns off every time after shutting off the engine. The code 43 comes on when switching from open to closed loop.

Knock sensors are brand new. Wiring checks out fine.

The only thing I can find is to have the PCM rebuilt or replaced.

Anyone else have this problem?

did you by chance DROP either of the sensors?
Are they ACDelco sensors??
Are they correctly torqued to 14 ft lbs and NO TIGHTER??

Before I changed them, code 43 was constant. After replacing and a couple hundred miles, the code only comes on when going into closed loop.

Yes, genuine AC Delco parts.
Torqued to 14lbs with my Torque Wrench.

Here is my question: Should they be torqued to 14lbs once the sensor is all the way screwed into the block? I met 14lbs about halfway in. I screwed the sensors in until they bottomed out and then torqued to 14lbs.

The only other thing I can think of is the PCM needs replacing.

Hi there,
Unfortunately, you probably ruined the sensors.
NO, you do NOT screw them all the way down.
Only as far as the 14 ft lbs take them.
The red thread sealant is made for just that purpose, because the screw into the water jackets of the block.
Replace the sensors, and your problem will probably be gone.

Before I replaced the sensors, the code 43 would come up all the time.

I installed the new sensors, screwed them about halfway in to the block until I met some resistance. CEL was still constant.

About 100miles later, I finally bought a torque wrench and readjusted the sensors as I noted above. CEL now only comes on when switching to closed loop.

The only sensors I have not replaced yet are the o2's, but not sure that would cause this problem.
