Found this interesting bit on GMAuthority.com.
Some classic cars have interesting backstories, and others have insanely interesting backstories.Count this classic Corvette for sale on ebay among the latter.According to the seller, this ’62 ‘Vette sports a Fiberfab Centurion body, one of seven Centurion bodies produced by Fiberfab founder Warren “Bud” Goodwin that was designed to emulate the famed 1959 Corvette Stingray Race Car concept. The very one that spawned the C2.Apparently to General Motors, though, Goodwin’s design wasn’t simply emulating the Stingray’s looks, it was ripping it off entirely. But it seems that even without GM going after Goodwin over copying the concept, he got himself put away regardless. As the seller writes: “Goodwin went to [j]ail for killing his wife with a shotgun.”GM lawyers were then able to ”[step] in and [cease] the production of anymore reproduction Stingray [r]acers,” the seller continues.Photos of the Centurion-bodied Corvette show a rough looking car that will definitely require restoration. The seller notes the car has a 350 cubic-inch V8 engine connected to a Muncie 3-speed transmission, but does not say if the car is in running condition.Available until July 2 at 3:20 P.M. EST in Plainfield, N.J. the car currently has not met it’s reserve with a bid of $26,949.Though it will certainly require a lot of elbow grease to bring this ‘Vette back to its glory, this is an awesome chance to own a car with a backstory that will surely entertain almost anyone you meet.
