I have read here that a chambered exhaust like the one from mid america is restrictive and may cause a power loss. Is there any evidence either way to support the claims.

I just cant find any proof either way.

Depends on the inside diameter of the inner perforated pipe; on midyear factory sidepipes (which are chambered), those are 1-7/8" diameter, and cause a significant restriction and power reduction compared to the stock 2-1/2" under-car exhaust system.

i am really thinking about getting.
the allens chambered system II for 450 bucks

My chambered exhaust is 2 1/4 and I love it. No power loss that I am aware of.

yes but thats what i am looking for.
empirical proof.
dyno charts and the like. i see it all the time at the motorcycle tracks i go to run at. people associate louder with more power.

I don't really think it's that loud. My Durango with 50 series flows are louder. But I do understand what you are saying. As long as you have dual exhaust with little restriction is the key. Not to big. Chambered exhaust is not going to yield any noticeable HP increase.
