I have a 96 LT1/A4 Vette, the change oil light came on today. Is there anything special I need to do, other than just change the oil? I dont know if there are any codes that the dealer has to clear out at every oil change... :confused

Thanks.

Oil Change Light

There's a procedure in the owner's manual to reset the light after changing the oil. Don't pay a dealer to do it (he should reset it for free if he changes your oil). Reply here if you can't find how to reset it and we'll look it up (old age, short term memory loss, infrequent oil changes, etc.)

No, no codes to clear, just the light and you can reset it yourself.

Search the forum for it and you'll find instructions for how to do that (in case I mess it up here).

1. Key on, do not start the motor
2. Press the Eng/Met button twice within 5 seconds
3. Press and hold the Gages button.
- the Oil change light should start flashing.
- when it stops flashing and is out, it is reset.
- it will come on again between 4.5-6000 miles depending on how you drive it.

I don't pay that much attention to it - just reset it when it comes on as I change my oil and filters on different schedules.
