I just replaced my 3.15 gears with 3.42's due to a leak. I was wondering because GM made all of these differentials should I expect the same leaking problems?

I changed my 2:73's and went to 3:42, Chris from ECS, put in new seals when he installed. He calims its justeasier to put innew seals, but if its not leaking now, you shouldn't have any problem, enjoy the new rear, Jim.

Just curious about this change. I am currently running 3.15 in my automatic vert. What performance enhancement do you get by changing to the 3.42?

Hey Rob, Here's some info from a website, depending on what year C5 you have it may require PCM changes. I have a 97 and the only software available to accomodate the gear change is LS1Edit:

GM's factory 3.42 gear set from the manual (MN6) C5 is a great modification to make to your automatic coupe or convertible. GM's 01-02 Z06 3.42 gear set is also a great addition to your automoatic coupe or convertible or can be swapped out of your manual (MN6) 97-02 C5 for more strength on the drag strip. GM's 01-02 Z06 3.42 gear sets are stronger due to the fact that they are shot peened. This will give you greater strength during autocrossing and drag strip track events. New Factory assembled differential. Comes complete with speed sensor. This is a bolt-in installation with no modifications. Quicker acceleration, take .5 seconds off 1/4 mile time.
