changeing gear ratio's

Im looking to put lower gears in my 59 I have the 4speed and my rear end houseing has a cast number 370 7306 lots of people say its a ford 9 " but it's gm all the way would like some 3:73's or 3:55's its a 10 bolt gear houseing comes out the front any Ideas where to look or which other chev may have a interchangeble part so I could look at a wrecker here in canada

You already may have a 3.55 or 3.70 ratio.

Jack the back up. Mark a tire and mark the drive shaft. Turn the tires once then count how many times the driveshaft mark goes by. 3 and a half times = 3.55. 3 and 3/4ths times = 3.70.

going to try that many people tell me I have 4:11's I think the best thing for me to do is remove the gears and check stamp numbers or count revs of shaft myself thanks will report back

Ideas where to look or which other chev may have a interchangeble part

55 to 64 full size Chevy. In 63 and 64 3.08s and 3.36s were common. I have 3.08s in mine .
