Second time will definately be easier, but 1st time sucked

Removed the intercoolers....no sweat

Removed the clamp from the intercooler down pipe and rotated the pipe out of the way.....no sweat

Drivers side plugs all came out with minimal cussing

Go to the passenger side

1st two plugs come out fine

Then its like..WTF, how in the hell can anyone short of a Chinese Acrobat or contorsionist manage to get the back two plugs out without pulling more parts off

I tried, and tried, and tried and finally decided to remove the 2 bolts mounting the intercooler downpipe, only to find out that someone from Ford must have engineered that fit cause i was going to have to remove the Turbo water fitting in order to get to one of the two downpipe bolts

So there I am, draining the radiator (via the turbo water line) just long enough to get the downpipe bolt out, and then re-installing the water line until after i change the plugs

I removed the downpipe and still had a ***** of a time getting the back plug out

Patience, patience, patience

Eventually it did come out, and the new plugs went in

Not the worst car to do the job on, but definately right up there with my Syclone & Typhoon

I should have done the plug wires at the same time but after the water line fiasco, they could kiss my a$$!

I did do the distributer cap & rotor but luckily that was also before the plugs

I love doing most of my work myself, but there are times when I reconsider my choice...lol

Make sure the rubber seal (pass. side) on the down pipe goes back on.

You just made me re-live a nightmare... I felt like I was there! :L

Hope you used thread ease on the spark plug threads. Also a trick making # 8 easier to get at. I use the spark socket and a 3/4" box wrench on the end of the socket to break loose the plug. Once loose you can attach a small vac hose to the end of the plug and twist turn it out the rest of the way.

Ray, if it makes you feel any better, a standard Corvette isn't much easier :eek

It does take some small / skinny hands for those last two plugs -

As 8388 mentioned, a small piece of hose over the end can work wonders as a "flex-extension" :upthumbs

Hope you are enjoying your new car! :m
