I noticed while under my '81 vette that my rear composite spring has splintered a bit on one side :eek:hnoes. Are these easy to replace, or should I take it to the shop to have it done? ;help.

Not hard to change BUT you need a good tool collection and good jack w/stands minium.

It's already on ramps and jacks, this was how I saw it :thumb. I also have all the tools needed :cool and will order a new one shortly and get it changed....Thanks Rex :thumb

Support the rear on stands.
Remove the tires.
Use a block of wood and a hydraulic jack to take the spring load off on of the spring bolts. Position the jack and wood just inboard of the spring bolt hole.
Remove the spring bolt.
Do the same to the other side.
Remove the spring mounting bolts
Remove the spring.

FWIW- It is much easier to change out the composite springs than a 7 leaf metal one. :chuckle

The metal ones weigh more. :W
