i want to replace fuel regulator in my 85. it had very low fuel pressure and after running some checks regulator problem seemed to be requlator. after getting in to regulator now see that torx holding requlator to base have very small pins in center to keep you from removing them. checked shop manuel and it says do not attempt to remove requlator cover. just think must be a way because i would think thats how people put on adj. requlator. so how do i get them torx out. is there a special torx socket? very glad for any help you can give.

get a set of safety-torx bits and a new fuel filter. If your fuel pressure is low or inconsistant, its more than likely a filter problem. either in the tank or the inline filter. maybe even time for a new pump.

Regulators are simple. a rubber diaphram that either leaks or not, and a spring.
