I was looking at these http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?dept_id=1595&pf_id=A5369&mscssid=E9TTX8PQCL329GG6GPWD18P3WCUA0155

On ecklers and they are 80 bucks and require the old sills to be installed correct? I just wanted to know if there are any nice ones with corvette on them like these that dont requre the old sills and are in the 40.00 range. By the way its been almost a year of shops and BS. My car inerior is almost done. All thats left is a new drive box, redipped rims and a new paint job and maybe some new leaf springs and the car will be like new.

Bender- save yourself the money. Take YOUR sills to a metal shop and have them POLISHED. Then cover them with clear coat.

If you don't want to do that, sand and paint them with an epoxy based paint that is the same color as your interior. That may cost you $10. I painted mine a couple of times in 10 years. They will get scratched- you'll have to get used to it if you want to drive yours everyday.

I had a choice in school- either pay the shops or learn to do it myself. Take the time to learn how to do it yourself and you will get a life time of experience from it. I started rebuilding a carb and ten years later I had EFI, a 700R4, sidepipes, new paint, new wheels, and a new interior. You'll never regret taking small projects one at a time and taking on bigger ones as your level of skill increases. I would never have traded the time I spent learning about cars, going through all the heartache of trying to get my old 78 where I wanted it, for anything. That rickety old car taught me a lot and I don't regret a minute of it!

Bender... I think our original thin chrome strips look great. I got a new pair in Carlisle last summer for $35 for the pair and I kept my old ones as spares. Save the $$ on the fancy ones. Go with stock.

later.......... Nut
