I tried to keep my aftermarket armrest in place with velcro, and it left a black stain behind on the vinyl center console. I tried getting it off with wd40, vinyl cleaner, and soap and water. Nothing worked. The glue was gummy from heat, so it didn't stick in the first place. I didn't see this coming at all, but it's there and I want to get it off. Any suggestions? By the way, it's a dark blue interior.

There are interior paints and dyes that hopefully cover up the stain. Here is a link to Eckler's.

There are products to prep the material to be painter and I believe something that aids in painting vinyl materials. They are used to paint the black vinyl parking brake console replacements. Good luck.

I have some dye in a spray can from Corvette Central. I am very reluctant to us it because it is "nasty", and I'm afraid it will flake off after while. A new one is about 45 dollars, so I could try it, and if it doesn't work it' not that big of deal. I just don't know how the console comes off yet.

I'm just damn sick of junk from china passing off as "goods".

You have to pull the console sides off. The center console rear screws need to be removed. Then it pulls off with some gentle prodding by lifting the sides down and outward. You need the interior dye promoter, adhesive spray to help with adhesion and the vinyl paint to ensure no flaking. I do not think it matters which supplier you buy it from.

One problem encountered with re-dying hard plastic interior pieces is silicon contamination from the use of Armor-all type protectant products. In preparing your plastic parts, you should wear some sort of nitrile gloves to prevent transfering body oils to the plastic pieces while cleaning & handling them. Prep the plastic pieces to be dyed by washing with Dawn dish washing soap & warm water. Allow to air dry and then wipe down using a Wax & Grease remover (PPG's DX-331 is one brand to use). When dry, wipe with a tac cloth as a final cleaning step. (Tac cloths are available from any paint supply store). Apply the plastic primer as per it's directions. Then apply the vinyl dye as per it's directions. When applying the dye, several light coats is better than one heavy coat. Apply light coats until your defect is covered and not noticeable. Allow at least 24 hours drying time before handling.

If applied over a properly cleaned surface, you should have no flaking or peeling problems.
