Thanks for your feedback, I disconected the battery to try and reset the computer, and saw that the connector was a bit loose, I also noticed that the batterry was making noises and seemed to be a bit expanded from one side.

It is a 6 month old battery, I will take it to be checked out today, does anyone know if this might cause the problem :confused

What kind of battery do you have Silver... If it is a Delco, GET IT OUT of your engine compartment. They have leaked on other owner's computer's and wiring harness, resulting in a great deal of damage. When they start leaking, though they can cause the computer to give weird messages. Get a glass mat, gel or a battery that is leak proof. I got an Oltima, yellow as that I need the cold cranking, especially up here.

I have a 2000. The pos. post was leaking AND ate up wiring&hoses under the batt. The
engine check light came on.Get rid of the delco batt

Hey guys :w thank you for your feedback

I had the batterry tested and they said it was o.k,

I did see some residue on the bottom portion of it, I will buy a mat for it and
look for acid.

C4C5, any thoughts? Is it safe to drive it to the dealership with the p0300 missfire code? :cry

Lose the Delco......Get rid of it before it does some real damage. They leak like @$#%&. Go buy a Gel Cell somewhere.
You spent all that $ for a great car so don't try to save 100 bucks and use the old battery, good or not.
Just my 2c....... :beer :w :Steer

That is a bummer

Just curious but how many miles are on your 97? I changed out my delco battery for a die hard gold it has been great no problems. You can get any battery you want but the die hard in my opinion is the best. All 3 of my cars have a die hard from sears. your choice but definetly get rid of that delco battery. I hope the dealer doesnt charge you an arm and a leg!

Best Of Luck,
Andy

ok bought a spill proff battery, put it on but the same problem
same codes, I'll take it to the dealer and see which arm and leg they like best :(

C4C5 any suggestions?

HI there,
It sounds like you have a few conditions here.
First, your P300 codes are due to the engine not getting spark. This could be due to a connector that is not seated. This may be what you have spoke about.
As for the Reduced engine power, and the like, that was caused by the throttle position sensor codes. This could be a result of a rubbed through harness on the drivers side of the fuel rail.
As for the 1278, this is a result of the throttle position sensor codes, and can be disregarded.
You can drive the vehicle, as long as the car is not running badly.
If you have cleared the codes and they havent come back, chances are better than average that the connector you have talked about solved the problem.
Allthebest, and please keep us posted, c4c5

I get my car back today !!!
I was told it was a bad harness and some sensors
I have not been told how much $$$ yet but being with out my baby for a week is horrible.

Thank you all for the replys :)
