Help! check engine light.

I have a check engine light that will not work, bulb is good, fuse is good, where else do I need to look?:W

Check engine light

No it does'nt. It was working fine a few days ago, then I noticed it was'nt working, started checking bulb, some wiring, and gauges fuse, but no luck. Any ideas?

Possibly a bad circuit board. From what I hear and from my own personal experience, those circuit sheets are notoriously fragile. It ain't hard to break/tear 'em.

Last time I had my console out I'm pretty sure I buggered up at least two of the light circuits.

Try your ALDL connector to see if you can get a code 12 (to check the light).

I suggest you look in the Factory Service Manaul for 82s, on page 6E-21. There's a whole page of diagnosis instructions for "no check engine light."

The Executive summary is you're either going to repair wires and/or connections or you're going to replace the ECM.

Thanks, been studying it while I'm away from home. this manual is great, just hate sometimes chasing wires, but can't stand things not working.

Well...I guess you're going to have to decide which you hate more: chasing wires or stuff not working.

Your right, but like I said earlier I hate when things don't work, so I'll be chasing wires and changing the computer. The manual is a great help. When i do this I'll go ahead a find my volt meter problem too. Thanks for all you guys help, its great for everything, especially when frustration sets in.
