ZURICH, June 22, 2016 - The 2017 Corvette Z06 is located at the intersection of Le Mans and the autobahn. A true world-class supercar and the most powerful and most technologically advanced Corvette ever. As the seventh generation of the iconic car from the early 1950s, the 2017 Z06 presents itself with a lightweight and rigid aluminum space frame as well as a supercharged 6.2L aluminum V8 engine delivering 659 hp and 881 Nm of torque. Prices start from 116,500 euros.

Where track meets street

The Z06 and the C7.R race car share unprecedented levels of engineering and components, including chassis architecture, engine technologies and aerodynamic strategies. With the Stingray as a foundation, the Z06 and C7.R were co-developed to push the envelope of performance beyond expectation. The 2017 Corvette Z06 is a street-legal race car for the budget-minded and will be offered in coupe and convertible models.

Supercar performance

The Corvette Z06’s capability is rooted in its LT4 supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine, which certified at 659 hp (485 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 881 Nm of torque at 3,600 rpm – making it the most powerful production car ever from General Motors and one of the most powerful production cars available in Europe.

With the available Z07 package, its capability enables 0-100 kph acceleration in 3.4 seconds with the eight-speed automatic and 3.8 seconds with the seven-speed manual transmission. It offers quarter-mile times of 10.95 seconds at 204 kph with the eight-speed and 11.2 seconds at 204 kph with the seven-speed transmission, lateral acceleration of 1.2 g and 100-0 kph braking in only 30.3 meters – the best of any production car tested by General Motors.

The Z07 package adds adjustable front and rear aero components for true aerodynamic downforce, Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 summer tires for enhanced grip and Brembo carbon ceramic-matrix brake rotors that improve braking performance and contribute to greater handling through reduced un-sprung weight.

With a choice of transmissions as well as Direct Injection, Active Fuel Management™ (cylinder deactivation) and Continuously Variable Valve Timing, Z06 is a powerful, efficient sports car.

A Chevrolet Corvette comeback victory

Chevrolet demonstrated racing excellence by winning last year’s biggest race: Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Jordan Taylor stood atop of the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Pro category. The Corvette Racing team took the victory in their No. 64 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.

MyLink with smartphone projection technology

New in the Corvette Z06 in 2017, Chevrolet’s new MyLink system with an 8-inch-diagonal color touchscreen is now compatible with Android Auto. Android Auto offers a simpler, smarter way to use an Android smartphone in the vehicle thanks to the available Chevrolet MyLink† display. Drivers can access their favorite songs and playlists with Google Play Music™, hands-free calling and texting, and even navigation through Google Maps™ — all using the built-in touch-screen in their vehicles.

This is in addition to Apple CarPlay, which was added in 2016. Apple CarPlay puts iPhone features on the display in a smart, simple manner, allowing drivers to make calls, send and receive messages and listen to music right from the touchscreen or by voice via Siri. That helps drivers spend more time with their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel.

Designed for downforce

To deliver the levels of grip needed for the Z06’s performance targets, the car is fitted with larger Michelin tires. And to cover the wider tire tread, the fenders of the Z06 were extended by 56 mm at the front and 80 mm at the rear. These extensions give the Corvette Z06 a wider, lower appearance further emphasized by a unique rear fascia.

To harness the cornering and braking grip afforded by the larger tires and brakes, the exterior of the Corvette Z06 is tailored to produce aerodynamic downforce that presses the tires to the ground at high speeds.

The exterior design also reflects the increased cooling required for the new Corvette Z06. For example, the mesh pattern on the front fascia was painstakingly designed to deliver the greatest possible airflow to the supercharger’s intercooler heat exchanger, so much so that the mesh grille directs more air into the engine bay than if the grille was removed. The 2017 Corvette Z06 is available in ten exterior colors.

Race-proven interior

Inside, the Corvette Z06 is distinguished from the Corvette Stingray by unique color schemes that emphasize the driver-focused cockpit and by a unique, flat-bottomed steering wheel, offering different and new interior equipment for more comfort or more support on the track.

The Z06 also benefits from interior details designed for high-performance driving, including a steel-reinforced grab bar on the center console for the passenger and soft-touch materials on the edge of the console, where the driver naturally braces during high-load cornering. All models feature a fully-wrapped interior, where every surface is covered with premium, soft-touch materials. There is even a micro-LED screen for the passenger’s climate control placed below the vent on the dash, away from the performance features on the instrument panel. Additional interior features are Performance Data Recorder or an 8-inch-diagonal color touch radio with Chevrolet MyLink.

Track-tested structure and technology

The Corvette Z06 leverages the technologies introduced on the Corvette Stingray, including the strategic use of lightweight materials and advanced driver technologies, with unique features and calibrations tailored for its capabilities.

The new Z06 retains the SLA-type front and rear suspension design of the Corvette Stingray but is uniquely calibrated for the higher performance threshold. The third-generation Magnetic Selective Ride Control dampers are standard on the Z06. They can be adjusted for touring comfort or maximum track performance via the standard Driver Mode Selector. The Driver Mode Selector tailors up to a dozen features of the Z06 to suit the driver’s environment, including Launch control, Active handling (StabiliTrak electronic stability control), Traction control, Performance Traction Management and Electronic Limited Slip Differential.

The smart electronic limited-slip differential, or eLSD, is standard on the Z06 to make the most of the torque split between the rear wheels. The system features a hydraulically actuated clutch that can infinitely vary clutch engagement and can respond from open to full engagement in tenths of a second. It shifts torque based on a unique algorithm that factors in vehicle speed, steering input and throttle position to improve steering feel, handling balance and traction. The eLSD is fully integrated with Electronic Stability Control and Performance Traction Management systems. Its calibrations vary among three modes, based on the Drive Mode Selector setting.

Integrated Performance Data Recorder

The award-winning, industry-first Performance Data Recorder – or PDR – enables users to record high-definition video, with telemetry overlays, of their driving experiences on and off the track. It was developed with Cosworth, the motorsports-engineering company that supplies the Corvette Racing team’s data acquisition and telemetry electronics system.
