Chevy announces Corvette Z06 0-60 mph time and base price

Corvette outperforms key competitive supercars at 1/3 the price

DETROIT – The ultimate Corvette—the 2006 Corvette Z06—is posting numbers at the track and on the window sticker that will get attention. Chevrolet has announced that the fastest Corvette ever—the 505-horsepower Corvette Z06—will achieve 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds while still in first gear, and pricing will start at $65,800, including destination and freight charges.

Maybe it's just an emotional reaction, but this price just "seems" too high, even though I agree that the car represents the best price/performance value around. It's strictly a gutt reaction on my part, but I've learned to listen to what my gutt tells me. Other thoughts?

$65000 too high!? where have you been!? topped out 2005 vert is $65000, so for the new Z06 to baseprice at that level is awesome!

Thanks for info about the convertible. I guess that makes two Corvettes that seem too high, with the convertible being way too high. When compared with each other the ZO6 pricing does sound much better, though. One thing which surprises me is why there are not more responses to this thread---I would think this announcement would be big news, regardless of what one feels about the awesomeness, or lack thereof, of the price.

Cheers,

I want one. I will need a rich uncle or a win in the lottery to get one. Maybe I can locate a used one about 2008 or so. Perhaps Ken will loan me the money. I will pay it back, Honest! :D
