I sometimes wonder if shops are used to sticking it to people they do it all the time. My wifes ImpalaSS was hit in the drivers side wheel area the car was taken to "the best in the area" body shop for repairs. While in there I paid extra to have a SLP hood put on, they could not get it to close (the struts were mounted backwards) so they "banged" clearance in the wheel wells.
they could not get the front end aligned and claimed it was worn out (just under 100,000 miles) my wife complained about the front end bieng "wobbly" and took it back andf they still said it was worn out.
I drove the car home and when I got there the caliper and rotor were red hot and smoking. The car went to the dealer on a flat bed they said the frame was bent and the caliper was damaged and both the caliper and rotor should be replaced.
Since the insurance company would not pay for the dealer to fix it it went back to the body shop. I got the owner involved and he said he would personally make it right. They straightened the frame but Allstate (the other drivers insurance) would not pay to replace the rotor and caliper, they said the car has too many miles.
the body shop owner asked if he could do the front end work so I said give me a price now keep in mind I told him I had had the car up on MY Lift and didnt think the front end was that bad.
$600 was his price, my price for parts was around $200.
You would think that he would not try to gouge someone who has told him he has a lift and can check it out. The parts guy did tell me he gives me a better price then the body shop because of past dealings.
Needless to say I did the front end (it was just as loose until I adjusted the steering box play)
We are attempting to recover our losses, but the other driver has moved and we are having trouble locating him to serve suit
