I finally got my MC solenoid problem fixed. Bubba hooked the dwell lead to a green 12 volt wire from drivers side. Unhooked that and all is well. Bubba was useing the dwell lead for choke connection too. So I now need to know where the choke wire comes from and what color. I also need to find a choke connector. Thanks for the help.

The choke wire is Blue, it comes out of the firewall connector C115 and runs along the drivers side fender and comes out of the harness next to the alternator

I have no blue wire coming out at that location. Only a green wire and a black with green stripe wire. I think it's the green wire. Thats the one bubba had spliced into the dwell connector.

Equine,

Tell Bubba that the choke wire connector goes by AC Delco part number (ACD#) PT102 and GM part number 12085480.

:upthumbs

p.s. My L81 also has a green wire. Could it be a St. Louis Vs Bowling Green difference?

Its probably cut off inside the harness back towards the firewall. Skin it out, its there somewhere.

My choke wire is green too, and also a St. Louis car.

From the 1981 GM Shop Manual (ST-364-ST) page 8A-39..
Green/White wire to the Choke Heater RELAY
Blue wire to the Choke Heater

From the diagram, it appears the Green/White wire comes from the wiring harness and the Blue wire goes from the Choke RELAY to the Choke ;shrug

thats where mine is. The blue has turned turquoise over the years so it's easily mistaken for green
