Now, this hasn't happened to my Vette yet, but it did happen to my Z28. Eventually, this sort of thing will happen to the Vette. I am sure of it. The Vette is... well, 25 years old. My Camaro is only 15 years newer than my Vette. I am just surprised that the Vette's windows still go up and down!!

So, this sort of thing may happen to any car, and then what do you do? Its a great time to have a problem with a power wiindow-
WHEN ITS ALLLL THE WAY DOWN!!!!!

Any clue what to do? I can hear the motor click once before the circuit breaker cuts out. Is it the motor? Is that typical for it to go out like that? It was going very slow until it just decided not to come back up.

I guess its only one of three things-
1.) the motor
2.) the switch- but the passenger side window still operates from the drivers side control
3.) the express down relay
4.) the wiring harnes

I did decide to test it by bypassing the switch entirely- I jumped the black wire to the both the brown and the blue wires that run to the motor. Still no action.

Any thoughts?

hold the window switch in the up position and bang on the bottom of the door where the window motor is ,sometimes it jars them alittle and goes back up one more time.

I tried that too.

I even grabbed the window and pulled on it as I held the switch.

I guess I'll be taking the regulator out. Grrrrr......

Thanks pat.

Well, the terrible thing is the Vette has to sleep outside tonight while the Camaro is in the garage. Of course, this is about par for the course.

I just got the Camaro back from the shop. Full repaint with 4/4 coats of base and clear. So, no masking tape and plastic.

I guess that I can add another $110 to the car.

Oh, yeah...... its raining too.

I saw your other thread, and you got this fixed.

My .02....You can remove the motor and hand pull the window up.

How do I know? Been there, done that on the Vette (s).

Glad you got it figured out.

Well, I figured I'd ask the most knowlegable person who has probably done this before.... natrually that would be Chris. So, again... thanks Chris! Don't worry, I didn't see you in an Obi One-Kenobi vision and get the right answer.

Now, I never knew how sharp all those aluminum pieces really were. So, I look like I own a cat. I have little cuts all over my fingers!!!

After practicing on the Z28... I think after my hands heal that I will be ready to tackle the 78's power regulators!!!

I also recently tackled the headliner. I really had to think about weather or not I wanted to go ahead and cut the supports and put in T-tops on the Z28. I opted not to for at least a few years!

Besides, I still need the front bumper replaced on the vette one day. And then the wiring harness needs to be updated and upgraded. And the bushings. Oh, then there is the Steeroids......

You understand!
