Hey, Bobby. Welcome to the Corvette Action Center! :w

I've got two thoughts here. First, since this is a detailing question, I'm going to move this thread the Automobile Detailing/Washing/Waxing forum, so that anyone who owns any generation of Corvette can benefit from the answers your question receives.

Second, while I'm no veteran when it comes to clay bar use, I have used the Zaino clay bar, and I've found it works quite well if you keep a little spray bottle (like the kind one would use to spritz themselves with water while sun-bathing) filled with a mixture of about 95% water and 5% Dawn Dish Soap. Not only will this lubricate the clay bar, the Dawn will actually help the clay bar due its job of razoring off the upper level impurities on the finish.

Hey Bobby

I claybarred mine for the first time last weekend and that is awesome stuff!

I bought the ZKIT-1 from Zaino and I'm slowly working through the process - hopefully I can put a couple more coats on this weekend.

I used a capful of the Zaino carwash and about 16 ounces of water in a spray bottle I picked up at Walmart. As long as you keep the area you're working on wet, this stuff glides like a dream!

Enjoy and post some pix when you're finished.

Skip the clay bar and use Meguires Cleaner wax. Personally it works 10 times better for me. Just my opinion, im sure the clay bar guys will disagree!

I have used Zainos clay bar and Z5 on my black vette for now going on 2 yrs I have not seen any product that I have used that gives me the shine Zaino gives. I do not use the Z2 or Z2 PRO. I have found that after I do my once a year clay barring, two coats of Z5, wipe down with Z8....awesome. Any and all washing and application of Zainos thereafter, I just wash, dry, one coat of Z5 (1/2 oz will do my entire vette), and wipe down with Z8.
