2003 50th Annversary Red coupe, beautiful !
After five years, the flat sections of my 2003 feels like it needs a clay bar put to use. Do I need to remove the wax before I use the clay bar, or will the clay bar work through the wax? Thanks !;help

You need to wash the car with Dawn Dish Soap that removes the wax, grease and oil as well as dirt. Then use the clay bar. Just washing will not remove the particles under the wax. I would think that the using the clay bar over wax would defeat the cleaning purpose, but I could be wrong. Sal Zaino and others recommend that the wax be stripped with Dawn. That is what I do on both corvettes.

im not sure, i did the dawn dish soap routine and it didnt strip the wax i was using off so i did it again and it still stood up to the dawn dish soap, i was using MEGUIARS NXT GENERATION TECH WAX and after 2 harsh cleanings with the dawn it still beaded up as good as it did the day i waxed it........ i think the clay bar takes quite a bit of everything off the finish.....but no matter what nothing seems to bead up like the zaino does.... i love that stuff:upthumbs

Hay Gmjunkie, I've used black magic liquid wax and get really great results, but it only last seven months or so, Even though I keep the Vette in the garage. Do you feel the turtle wax ICE is a better longer lasting wax? And did you wash the car with Dawn before you used the turtle wax clay bar? Thanks !

Paint guy showed me how to use a clay bar is to spray a touch up liquid spray with the clay. This lubes the bar between paint and will not stick any clay on a dry place. It tacks the grit and you keep folding the clay to embed the debris you lifted off.
Liberal spray for lube and yes, wash that car free of initial surface grit.

I've been using Liquid Ice Polish for about 2-3 years now and I LIKE IT!! Just started the Liquid Ice clay bar since it came out!! Works great, with allot less work than a conventional clay bar!!:thumb:thumb The Liquid Ice Clay bar is a Liquid that you apply in 1 direction with a sponge that comes with it!!It has special cleaners and lubricants in it with the clay!!:thumb:thumbCleans Outside of the glass and works great on Chrome too!!:thumb:thumbI've only used it on 4-5 cars so far,but it works great, just follow the directions!!:thumbThe liquid Ice Polish I've been using for 2-3 years on everything I own personally and all of the vehicles I service and detail for resale!!The reason is we drive every vehicle here and it makes them Easy to Clean!!Heck a good rain will about do it!!:chuckle:chuckleBugs and road dirt comes off most of the time with a quick blast from my pressure washer with no soap!!You can use the Ice Polish on the black trim and it just makes it look better longer too!!:thumb:thumb:thumbThis white 94 was done about 7-8 months ago and we have driven it over 4,000 miles!I just rinse it off and towel it off, and it comes up gleaming!!:thumb:thumb:thumb
