Has anyone used a product called ClayMagic surface preparation bar and with what results? I was at a Wal-Mart earlier tonight and saw they were selling this product. The automotive dept. salesperson said they had recently started carrying this product and had been selling quite a lot of it.

Every car care manufacturer seems to have a clay product available nowadays. No matter which brand you use, and they're basically all the same, here's a good article prepared by our in-house expert, the DetailingDude: How to Use a Clay Bar.

Hi, Only experience I have had with clay is when the Army Corp. Engineers painted our new levee system wall. I live 200' from the wall and my 2002 Hyundia with 1000mi. on it had much overspray covering it. Called ACE, they sent me to a company that removed the overspray using clay. At this point the finish looks good.

I just bought the claymagic product and used it with great results. The blue clay is soft and the spray keeps the area you are doing well lubricated. I took off alot of tar/road grime off the bottom area of the car. I will be waxing this weekend !!Follow the how to use a clay bar article as the product itself has bad instructions.

Give it a try for the cost it is well worth it. Good luck

I recently ordered the complete kit from Zaino which included their clay bar. I never would have believed 1) how easy it was to use and 2)what a difference it made! What I thought was a pretty good paint job/surface, quickly was transformed into a Beautiful paint job and surface. In roughly an hours time, my finish looked like it was new! Terrific product. Had never heard of 'claying' before.:duh

ClayMagic is a well respected clay bar, as is Mother's clay bar. Both work exceptionally well. A word of caution toward the Meguiar's clay bar - while I have no personal experience with it, I have read many accounts of their bar turning very soft, falling apart during use as well as leaving behind significant streaking.

It's up to you, but I'd stick with either ClayMagic or Mother's clay bars. They are worth the effort. :)
