Cleaning injectors

Cleaning injectors out of car, any special chemicals??

I purchased a set of injectors from a forum member here. The injectors only have around 2500 miles on them. I have noticed some dirt around the base of the injectors, however the tips look very clean. What can I use to clean them, some kind of spray on cleaner. I do not want to damage the seals.

I wansn't sure if windex or something like that would work. I guess I could just use a wet cloth, but I do not want to get that tip dirty with any lint.

How about injector cleaner?

Initial that is what I thought, but I am not sure if the injector cleaner so concetrated would damage the seals. Because when you put it into your gas, it is mixed.

Do you want to have them REALLY cleaned? I sent mine to this guy. http://www.affordable-fuel-injection.com/fuel-injector-cleaning.htm who cleans and tests them. When you get them back, they have new o-rings and pintal caps ready to install. Now, I have not run mine yet, but there are several folks who offer the same service , but for $20 - $80 dollars more. I did not select the fancy shipping options (from the day I sent them I had them back in a week). He charges $90 bones for a set of 8 and $5.00 to ship them back. You have to pay to ship them and mine cost less than $10.

Craig , if your talking about the external surface, Just use WD-40 and wipe them off. They reccommend useing it on the seal before you insert them in the fuel rail/manifold.

I understand NAPA stores sell a fuel injector cleaner that hooks up to the fuel rail and you pull the fuse on your fuel pump and run this stuff through. I've never done this but was told by someone that rebuilds everything. He told me that's what they charge you for at the dealer. Has anyone been successful with this?

Yes I was talking about the external surfaces. I will give that a try. THey really aren't that dirty, just some surface grime, should blast right off.
