cleaning/washing front wheel bearings?

just curious after all these years - I use Gas, what do you use?

Mineral spirits works too - just don't spin the cleaned-up bearing by blowing on it with an air hose.

Spray on brake cleaner works good for me.

I prefer solvent/parts cleaner. Really like the tanks with the spray/brush combo-I got my hose and brush setup from Safety-Kleen, tank from Harbor Freight. Don't spin the bearing dry, but you can blow it clean. Look for any discoloration on bearing and race-it's losing it's 'tin' and is a problem.

I don't mix greases-clean out the bearing/hub/spindle/etc., if it's a change.

Gas has been a bad choice - too volitile and flamiable. I made the change to mineral spirits last night. It works well. Thanks.
