Have any of you guys ever seen any of the old clear acrylic corvette hoods that were made years ago. Curious if anyone still makes them.

I have never seen or heard of this, but if someone finds one I am buying it

Ohhhh, yeahhhh!!!

I remember those. They looked great on some cars that had the "show" engines. Way cool. :cool

I'm sorry, but I can't help you as far as the latest vendor for that. I suggest a Google search. You might also try some of the show car magazines (like LowRider)-perhaps PriMedia or such. Good luck. I would like to know if you are successful. Imagine one with a '67 stinger, too, or an LT-1/big block C-3 type. Neat, huh?

Wow, a clear hood! I got the lowest marks on my appraisal for 'underhood' don't think I'd want to show it off! Now if I had a ton of chrome and one of those new-fangled $2500 belt systems, a clear hood would save a lot of wear on the hinges! :gap
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Hehe... Yeah, yeah, I know it sounds outrageous, but look at the attached image and see why. This is how my current restoration is going.

I did talk to one of the guys at Wilcox and they seem to remember a car the GM was pushing around to shows that had a clear hood. They haven't seen one since. Would be cool to see peoples eyes bug out when you pull up to each other at a light. It would look down right rude! LOL!

Thanks all!

Are you sure that is an engine or just a pretty looking toy? Looks great.

It's definitely a big boy toy! But who knows, it hasn't even been fired off yet, so it could end up being junk. I sure hope not though. Too much money, time, and head aches is going back in this baby!

And with that chrome and clear hood, can you afford to drive it? Drive it for an hour - spend three hours cleaning under the hood for the next trip?
