I have just acquired a beautiful yellow '92 LT1 and have logged about 200 mi. (43000 mi on odo) I am now learning the car and there are two things that do not seem right.
First is a clicking sound on the top of the engine. Noise is definitely strongest (using a stethescope) on the round silver object located in what seems to be the feul line about 6" from where the line disappears under the cowl. It is definitely getting louder.
Second is there is a loose cluncking sound/feeling behind? the passenger compartment when I let off the gas and then re apply the gas. If i am VERY gentle this does not happen. It happens in all gears.(6 sp man)
Can anyone provide me with some enlightenment as to what may be the causes. I hate to go to the garage uninformed.

Clunking is a U-joint. Replace all of them with Spicer Cold Forged joints. Its the only joint that can really handle the torque.

A clicking noise is usually the injectors, but i'm not sure exactly what youre talking about as i'm not an LT1 expert.

Well, I sure got a clicking and clunking sound myself this weekend. The air pump (located on the serpentine to the inside of the alternator) went. It started quiet with a slight rickety noise but soon escalated to a loud clacking impeller sound in about 50 miles. Replaced it and belt for 200 Canadian.
If this happens be sure to eliminate your alternator as the cause as wrench was going to start there...
Not sure what you are talking about there but my car is likely a different set-up (?)
