First off... hey, I'm new! I just bought a 2000 Coupe and I am having a bit of trouble with the climate control... While I was driving the car home, I noticed the display on the system wasn't working. I can push the fan button and hear the difference in air, but no display. It also seems to respond to turning the temp knob, but I can't see what it's reading.

Also, I pressed the AC button and the light flashed orange a few times, what does that mean?

Thanks in advance for your help, I love my car and I hope I can get this little situation fixed... I have seen a few stereos do this from time to time, and fixed by replacing the LED's or bulbs that backlight the display? If anyone could point me in the right direction of removing the climate control, that might be helpful as well! Thanks, Jim

This may seem silly, but did you turn the panel lights up? They may be dimmed.

First thing I would check.

Second thing would be the owner's manual -- that has a lot of useful information about the car, including the HVAC system and the controls.

Was the AC light on before you pressed the button? if so, this is just your car telling you that it going to run the compressor regardless. It will do that in several modes, especially defog/defrost or air recirc modes.
I don't know the answer to the no display problem.
By the way, welcome to the CAC!

My 98 coupes HVAC digital display started going out a few months ago and then sometimes it comes on full display. Which usually happens now whenever I drive it. I called the chevrolet dealer and they want over $300 for the unit. So as long is it comes on some I'm gonna leave it like that. I haven't tried to take it out but I was told by someone on corvette forum that you just have to take the cover off that goes over the radio and HVAC by taking a small screwdriver and prying the cover off the sensor cover on the right side of the stearing column and there is a small screw to take out there. Then gently pry the cover off the traction control button on the center console and there is a screw under there to take out and it should easily come off. Good Luck
