I have a 99 vert with automatic climate control. Since the battery went dead sitting in the garage, the driver's side temperature setting cannot be adjusted. No matter how much I turn the knob, the temp is stuck at 66 deg. I disconnected the battery for about 5 min. and after reconnecting it the temp is now stuck at 73 deg. I read somewhere in a previous forum that this may be due to a bad climate control head. If so, how do I confirm this? Are there any codes to look for? What is the climate control head and is it difficult to replace? Is there a part number for this that I can look up for pricing? Any assistance you can give me on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,
I would suggest that before you do this, you rehome the actuators.
Please remove the #27 minifuse from the underfoot passenger side fuse block for 3 mins.
Reinstall, and then turn on the car, and turn the controls full hot.
Then, see if you regain temperature control.
My feeling is that you will be just fine, and not have to spend the $600 for the control head.
Allthebest, and please keep us posted, c4c5:hb

Thanks for the advice c4c5 Specialist. I will give it a try and post my results. Probably not until this weekend though. Hope this works.

Climate control problems

Hi c4c5, I finally got around to trying the fix you suggested by removing the #27 fuse for 3 minutes and then starting the car and setting the controls to hot. Well, unfortunately I was not successful. I tried it twice without any luck. The temperature is still stuck at 73 degrees. What do you suggest I try next?

What exactly is the control head? Do you have a part number for this item? How do I go about replacing it? Any information you can give me on this will be greatly appreciated.

HI there,
The part number as of this time is 9356081. This is the control head which is what you use to change the temperature with.
This is also the control computer for the system, as it is all in one unit.
List is $931, however, other parts houses, will have them at a cheaper price. You can find alot of dealerships that discounts parts.
Allthebest, c4c5:hb
