C-3 Clock Re-build....

Has anybody re-built there C-3 factory analog clock with the "quarts do-it yourself" kits i see in the mags?
And if so please comment on, if it was worth the money ,or should i just go the extra cash and buy a new one?
Was it hard to do?
The reason i want to rebuild it , is that my sweep hand , or seconds , is green and the other two are orange....i dont know if its factory or if they dont offer it in the adds....please let me know your opinions...thanks .

Quartz clock

I had my original clock on my 76 replaced twice in the past 10 years after the third failure I bought a quartz replacement kit from Zip and installed it. The conversion was really easy enough and as far as I am concerned was money well spent. It has been in there a little over a year now and runs perfectly keeping super time.

Hey! Thank You Chas, for asking the question, and thank you Tom for your re-ply. My 1979 L-82 has a clock that's not working since I had my Vette. Now when the time comes I will know what to do. Thanks again

Thanks....

I am looking at Rik's corvettes in N.C. .....$59 for the kit...seems less than the rest...shipping was $8.95 so its still less than i have seen in my other mags.

That's why I love this site, thanx Chas. I copied the info and will put it to use at a later date. I also just signed up my 79 L-82 for it's first auto show (since I've owned it)
in June.Can't wait, later folks

I did the quartz conversion, I thought it was very easy. As for the hands, the kit that I got had you use the factory hands on the new quartz movement.

thanx for the info, But I could not see myself using a digital in my 79. It would remind me of my 81 datzun 280zx, the last thing I replaced before selling it.Corvette's rule

its not digital...just quarts movement.

nice and smooth ...not tick tock.
