Another repair; with pics for reference.

Clutch hydraulic linkage has leak(s). Master was found empty, after getting me home 30 miles after purchase, and another trip to the gas station. Pedal was soft before, and now it's dead, with entry into NO gears. You pay $16k, you should get more than 50 miles out of a car...

Filled the reservoir, and the pedal got resistance.

Now, find the leak, fix, bleed.

No fluid on the floor.

'90 ZR1, probably similar to all ZF 6x.

Under the dash, a look up high, and only a drop hanging up there....

Pull back the dealer plastic, the carpet is dry.

Pull back the carpet, the backing is dry.

Pull back the sound insulation, it feels funny.

What's this on my fingers??? Clutch fluid?

Looks like a leaking MC at the very least.

More tomorrow...

What's up Jessie...

Waitin' right now on some daylight, to resume here. I sure hope the dust cover on the slave cyl comes off without having to pull exhaust (and comes off dry at that / cross fingers, cross toes, cross eyes, teeth, hair, cross it all) :ugh...

After that, the drivers side insulation is probably gonna' have to get wrung out!!!

Didn't even get CLOSE to the slave. 2 hours spent, HALFWAY exposing the clutch MC.

Found this charger hiding in front of the battery.

Get a wrench in WHAT SPACE???

Panel off, battery out. I don't see anything yet...

And a few more, to think on, and refer to as I go. If you see anything, sound off.

Remember what you dis-connect. Vacuum port, and a switch. What is this switch? (mounted under ECM bracket) I didn't follow the line???

And a few odd shots.

Is the DOT 3 fluid petroleum based? Or water based? Water base would explain the rust...

I have half a mind to Parkerize the MC if I have to yank it.

We're gonna' clean up parts, re-connect, pull the inside carpet + sound insulation, and do a few miles, to see the juice on the lam.

So the reservoir that sits atop the cylinder body has 'action', but I worked it slightly, and no fluid seeped out. That seal probably is good... the bore seal behind the piston is probably the culprit.

But I had to get an eyeball on the slave cylinder before doing a temporary zip-up

Look at that bleed nipple. WOW. I think a laser guided Smart-Wrench isn't gonna' acquire that target. :W

They should have poked a hole in the floorboard for bleeding on that one...

Anyone know what this connector might be? I found it dis-connected at the driver's side of the tranny... (no check engine lights)

And a box of toys from Advance / Zone earlier this evening!

We didn't remove any components. YET.

No leakage was evident at the slave (although it's still possible, as Jessie / gmjunkie said). Where is the rubber sleeve on that, anyway???

We bled the slave 4 times, but NO air came out. That was dis-appointing. Put the Shop-Vac attachment at the driver's seat, to the clutch pedal, seat forward to hold the pedal to the floor, and release the bleed screw just for a second!!!

4 times, no air. Just fluid. MC fluid level hardly went down at all.

Did 40 mile ride, no problems 'R' is still hard to get into however???

Have not checked level yet.

If it has gone down, the carpet will have to come out driver's side, to see the leak inside. A drop was observed, as well as some fluid in the sound padding, so there IS a leak. How bad???
