My car has a quirk I'm not used to... and I am curious if it is unique or not. Say you want to shift out of first at 1500 rpms... foot off gas, push clutch in (engine revs to 1750-1800) shift to second, let clutch out.

the little rev it gives when the clutch is pushed in (under no throttle)... what is causing it? All it is doing is adding stress to the synchros (wich are weak anyway)... Why does it care that the clutch is pushed in?

I have gone through the idle setting... not sure what to check next. Input appreciated...

Thanks

Could it be that the throttle cable is restricted somewhere. This would lead to the same effect if you reved it in neutral, and let of. If the car didn't return back to idle right away, then something I would think is physically holding the throttle. This is just an educated guess as they say. Good luck with the problem.

Might also want to check your motor mounts. Maybe the engine is rocking enough when you push in the clutch, it falls back on the mount. I doubt it but you never know. Good luck.

It almost sounds to me like something is in a bind in the transmission...could be a bearing is going bad...how many miles is on the tranny and how do you drive it...lead foot or ole folks driving????
