If you need a new clutch slave cylinder get ready to have to replace the hydraulic line too! I went round and round with the parts store. They said there is only one slave cylinder listed for an 85 and I had it. Well, after visiting Ekler's web site, they say you also have to replace the hydraulic line to make the connection to the slave cylinder. They call it an up-grade. I call it a rip-off. For another $119.00 I now have a working clutch.

I had no idea they were selling an "upgrade" to the slave cylinders, or their associated lines. ;shrug

??? Eckler's apparently sells a repro clutch hydraulic line that is not bent exactly right for specific fitments. IT sounds like they did some of their own engineering to get people to buy a package.

Any competent heavy equipment shop can build a new hydraulic line for you and so can a brake parts shop. Take the original hose and the new slave cylinder and they can build a hose that works fine and at a whole lot less that what Eckler's charges.

It really steams me when places like Ecklers' preys on Corvette owners like this. It's bad enough that GM discontinued the clutch hose, but to see Eckler's create a replacement hose (and one that doesn't fit right!!) and then say you have to use their hose with a new slave cylinder is just plain wrong.

I have read lots of different complaints and rants about Eclker's and their poor quality control and lack of commitment to customer service that I don't understand why people still buy from them, or for that matter, why they are even still in business. If you compare Eckler's prices with the other accessory and parts catalogs, they are typically 5-10% higher for the same item.

You're right about the fit. I had to make it work. The slave they sell is the exact same as the one I bought at the local parts store in my area. They get $90.00 plus shipping and I paid $59.00 with no shipping. You're also right about the hose being made at a hydraulic shop. I have a friend that works at a Caterpilar dealer, he gave me all kinds grief for not asking him to make it. I forgot... Now that I'll never need one again I'll remember to ask!

I actually found a place here in phoenix that for $45 used my original metal parts and replaced the hoses. Works great

and your right I have bought a couple of things from Ecklers and don't like the service, prices or the back orders

prices

Try looking at ArtsCorvetteParts.com $228.38 for a clutch slave? They said check out the price at a Chevy dealer so I did. I got $179.00 + for a price at our local dealer.
