Code 15, 16, 26, and 32. (What’s next).

Two months ago I had the following codes displayed.

26 (Quad driver Module #1 ??????)

32 (Exhaust Gas recirculation ckt ?????????)



Later I replaced the following:

Water pump

Radiator

Opti-Spark (GEN I, Dynaspark)

Damper

Thermostat (Changed to Low Temp thermostat)



Now I have the following code problems

15 (Coolant Sensor Ckt LOW)

16 (Ignition Problems ???????)

26 (Quad driver Module #1 ??????)

32 (Exhaust Gas recirculation ckt ?????????)



This is my guess on some stuff.

32..no idea

26..no idea

15…The low temp thermostat needs to be changed back to the correct thermostat or upon installing the new water pump the temp sensor screwed into it may be the problem. I used Teflon tape on the threads.

16…no idea



Will any of these codes cause major engine damaged and how do I fix the problems too.

Code 26 is the ECM or the canister purge valve is bad ( do the purge valve first )
Code 32 is the EGR valve or the EGR solenoid is bad ( do both )
Code 16 is the related to the Opti spark, but sense you had replaced the unit I would clear the memory by disconecting the battery for 1 min and see if any of the codes pop up again.

Definitely clear the codes from memory and see which ones resurface. Also, before throwing parts at the problems, check the simple, visual things, like wires mis/disconnected, plus the vacuum lines (kinked, cracked?), say to the EGR, which is ECM controlled, but vacuum operated. You can test it with a handheld pump, to help isolate the problem component.

What you are going to need is a manual that will show all the locations of all those parts and how to trouble shoot it.
I hope that when you changed the thermostat that you didnt get coolant down to the opti spark or there isn't a leak at the water pump. Hopefully if there is moisture in the opti, it might disapate after a few heat cycles. Good luck!

Trying to get right to the solution

I have a manual , but it's a first edition which is very hard to follow at times. Some of my questions are for quick to the point things to do. I did look at the troubleshooting section of my manual. It request using equipment one can only find at the dealership. It's a dealership factory manual. Most of the time this forum has better ideas than the manual.
As for the opti, this is the Dyna Spark Gen I model. It's pretty hard to get coolant in it. Plus this unit has the vacuum lines cooneted to it to prevent mosture problems.
I think the temp sensor on the water pump may be bad or needs to make contact with the metal of the water pump. Currently the sensor is isolated from the water pump via teflon tape on the theads. I also think installing the low temp themostat may be causing problems.

The car runs perfect, no misfiring or loss of power.

THe new codes popped up after about 300 to 500 miles of driving. Before the 26 / 32 code would pop up then go away. Now I drive the car for about 2 to 15 mins then the light comes on and stay on which I think is linked to codes 15 /16.

By canister, are we talking about the little round black thing in the front of the vehicle where emissions go to get burned off?

I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with an LT1 but the EGR should be on/near the intake manifold.

It's the goldish-colored round thing, roughly centered between the (Lingenfelter) runners. You can see the vacuum line which comes from the EGR solenoid. The EGR solenoid is electrically operated though the ECM, which in turn, allows/disallows vacuum to flow to the valve, operating it. The EGR opens to send some exhaust gasses into the intake manifold, which lowers cylinder temperatures, hence NOx emissions, which occur under decel < very lean (very hot) air/fuel ratios.

I doubt the teflon tape has any negative effect. The sensor should read from the center part of the probe, not through the threads.

By canister, are we talking about the little round black thing in the front of the vehicle where emissions go to get burned off?

Yes, it's a vapor canister, which is charcoal-filled and stores raw gasoline vapors, which get sucked out by engine vacuum, under certains conditions. I believe that the 'in' line comes directly from the neck of the fuel tank, keeping fuel vapors out of the atmosphere while feeding them to the engine.
