Hey folks...was driving and the SES light came on. pulled into a Auto zone and ask the man behind the counter if he could pull a code for me. he did...it was Code 21.....looked in my Service manual...I guess I need help deciphering the lingo and what do I do next....any suggestions?

I'm not sure about an '88, but in the '90 code 21 is throttle position sensor.

Cool,

So what do I do next ...do I need to replace the sensor? Is it an easy job for the beginner mechanic?

Thanks! It's a little out of my league but its a start...thanks again

If it is infact the TPS sensor, maybe you should check the output voltage. I think the correct value is .54 V. This would be on the top two pins I believe. There is a thread here about setting it. But if you check if you should know where to go from there.

Did you try to do a search on Throttle position sensor???

not yet...just taking baby steps with it. I did do a search and one site mentioned disconnecting the battery for a few moments to see if the ECM resets. I don't know a whole lot about this voltage issue or where to begin. I am afraid that I need things broken down "Barney style". Maybe I should try to find "Corvette's for Dummies" at my favorite bookstore. Seriously though, don't have a clue on electrical stuff or how to check the voltage.
