Given: I have a factory service manual

I am a do-it-yourselfer.

This forum has always helped me.

Where is the EDV solenoid? I can’t find it.

Code 26 is linked to the following areas

A) Canister Purge Solenoid

B) EGR Solenoid

C) A.I.R. Relay

D) EDV solenoid

Code 32 is linked to following areas

a) EGR Solenoid

b) EGR Valve

The commonality is EGR components. I will troubleshoot this area first.

Where is the EDV solenoid? I can’t find it.

The EGR solenoid should be located at the end of the air hose going into the EGR.

What is the EDV? I'm embarrased to say that I've never heard of that before.:L

EDV solenoid

Where is the EDV solenoid?
Listed in my service manual under Code 26 failure are 4 devices which can trigger this fault.
ECM port A1 goes to canister purge solenoid
ECM port A2 goes to EGR solenoid
ECM port A7 goes to A.I.R. relay

ECM port A8 goes to EDV solenoid

All of this devices are part of "Quad-driver module (QDM) #1 circuit.
I can't find the EDV solenoid any other place in the manual

May be valve

Someone else replied with the following:

"I asked then about the EGR, does the SES light come on immediately or after driving? If it's immediate, it's the EGR solenoid, if it takes 20 minutes, it's the valve. Simple. I would think that the common ground here is the EGR soleniod."

It takes around 30 minutes of driving, It may be the valve. I will replace it first.

I am out of town until Friday. I will get back

I think that should be ESV, or A.I.R Electric Switching Valve Solenoid. Don't know where it is exactly, but since it is in the A.I.R system it shouldn't be too hard to find. PNK/BLK wire to terminal D of AIR relay. BLK/PNK wire to terminal A8 of ECM.

I think I found the problem..I think ????

The A.I.R. pump is electric for the 1992 vette. I removed mine today to see if it was malfunctioning. The pump has a 25 amp fuse in series with it to the relay. The fuse was blown. After removing the AIR pump I let the car run for about 5 mins and then the SES light came on (code 26). I bypassed the fuse to see if the motor works ( THe motor turned on, so it works) THe plastic blades on the AIR pump blower were worn against the housing. I also noticed a lot of play in the motor shaft. THis may be a bad bearing in the motor.
The EDV solenoid controls the "Electric Divert Valve" EDV directs the air flow from the AIR pump to the atmosphere or exhaust ports. Its located in series with the 2" hose leading from the AIR pump.

Question:
a) Once the AIR pump was removed, why did the SES light not come on instantly? Why did it take 5 to 10 mins?

b) Can I rebuild the AIR pump?

Will a blown AIR pump fuse cause a code 26?
