The '96 came with Dexcool. It will have a reddish-orange color. What is in yours depends of course on whether the Dexcool has been replaced.Jman said:'96 LT4 - what color should the fluid be when viewed in the plastic tank? Depends on who you ask. Some love it, some cuss it. DexCool is supposed to be a 100,000 mile/5 year antifreeze that is less abrasive to water pumps and presumably provides better corrosion inhibitors. However DexCool has been the source for much litigation and class action lawsuits. There is a ton of data out there on DexCool, good and bad. So Google away and take EVERYTHING you read with a dose of caution. If yours is original or you don't know how long it has been in, you probably should flush and refill.Jman said:Thought I had a serious rusting radiator problem for a second. What are the features and benefits of DexCool and does it need to be replaced/flushed periodically?
