Go to www.c5registry.com click on "hot news" then click on "C5 Birthday Bash" for all the pics of the new 2004s in all there glory from this weekends birthday bash in BG! :D Also don't miss the "press release" icon on the Friday page.

Don't flame me for this but a paint scheme and revised chassis tuning is it? Additional cost...$4,000.00? :confused

Since this is the C5's final year, I would have thought they could have at least added more HP/Torque. Kinda reminds me of the ho-hum 50th.

Am I being too harsh??

Don't forget the needless carbon fiber hood! Also the re cycled 50th emblems and re cycled 50th interior! :s

They gave us the LT4 (great engine) for the C4's adieu. I just figured on a power upgrade for the C5's last hurrah.

I didn't pay attention when I was at the plant but im Guessing the C6 might have a carbon fiber hood as standard. This is why they are intro-ing the idea on the 04 C5.

Up until the 50th anniversary edition, it seemed like the vette was on quite a roll. What in the world is happening? It's like they're trying to get left in the dust.

GM: Wake up! FAST! Cadillacs (whether they are "V series" or not) are getting horsepower upgrades and the Corvette is not.

Gimme a break.

Ugh.

Greg

I also find it funny that the 50th car and the 40th car were sort of "look alikes" and so goes for the Grand Sport and the C5 collector edition. GM seems to have NO IMAGINATION at all when it comes to colors and style. I was hoping the Z06 would have a version of the C6 motor at least.

So many disappointments of late.

First the C6 Spy shot - no big thing.

Then the Commemortive Edition - Paint, recyled interior (by the way if I owned an Aniv. I'd be ****ed), and a CF hood ... and if I read the C5 Reg. article correctly the CF hood is only on the Z06.
Again no big thing.

Now, I just read on another site that some one claims to have seen the C6 drawings at GM and that Motor Trend's cover rendering is dead on. I hope they were looking at an old drawing that Lutz had nixed.

BlackIce, How close is the MT drawing to what you have seen?

Well Its not "spot" on but its a good idea of how much the car is going to change. This is why I have coined the car a C5.5 and not a C6. Also I got LAUGHED off of another forum when I said take a look at the 03 Pontiac Sunfire front end to get an "idea" as to what the C6 styling will resemble. You see GM always likes to "pal" style there cheaper cars to "look" like there halo models. The Sunfire is an "all New" style for 2003 and I'll tell you this it was not styled after the outgoing C5 or now gone Firebird! Take the grill away between the Sunfires headlights and compare the image with the MT mag C6 rendition and the Jujubee yellow car photoshop picture.

BI, that is scary! I hope it looks better in person than what you are saying. I know dynamically the car will be terrific, but I hope what your saying on the looks don't leave it behind. Is the butt still big like the C5 or have they slimmed it down?

C6s rear end is a 2 piece operation an upper piece and a lower piece (see XLR also) Its kinda like the Tiger shark rear its slimmer but with a Hat brim like spoiler not quite as much as the Tiger Sharks funnel like spoiler. Its also shorter with s better blend line with the rear 1/4 panel. Gm knows people still like the C5s styling so the intent was to modernize it a bit with the exposed lights and edging it up to todays styling trends.

There will be a press/dealer ride and drive in the fall. The pics should start flowing then. They will also make some C6s (process evaluation cars) right at BG to test assembly in the fall as well. These cars will be the first with all the final production parts installed. Even some styling cues could change as they did with C5 (look at the book all Corvettes are red) The pictures they show of there finished cars changed (fog lamps) somewhat by the time the C5 reached dealers.

Thanks for all the info BI. As I've indicated before, you have earned creditability with me. But the news makes me sad. The MT headlights are square, like a Stealth or a new NSX. That look was ulgy on them, and it would be ugly on a Vette. No Corvette should have anything square on it - esspecially the first fixed headlights in 40+ years.

I am very disappointed in the Vette design team, and I don't think that I will be the only one.

Did I say C6s Headlight pods would be square?? :nono :D

Now don't take it verbatim but there are C6 styling cues there.

Looks like GM messed up another of it's wet dream's
If it looks like that then I will wait till the C-7 comes out.
Gm needs to think about this one.

Now we also know why Electron Blue was dropped for the 04 model year.
